The First Noël, also written as The First Nowell, a carol of the 16th or 17th century, but possibly dating from as early as the 13th century. This combination of tune and lyrics first appeared in the early 1800s. The text is written by Davies Gilbert. This arrangement is written by Johan Velthuis and completes the traditional melody with a modern one. The arrangement is written for SATB + piano.
